My name is Jeffrey Proctor, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Allen, TX, near Dallas. I spent the first ten years of my life in Honduras as a Third Culture Kid {TCK) and faced significant challenges when transitioning back to the United States at nearly eleven years old. Additionally, being half Honduran, I have personal experience with struggles related to ethnic identity.

    My approach

My approach focuses on helping you understand and manage your emotions, so you can recognize, express, and accept your feelings and those of others. With experience in various counseling settings, I can adapt my methods to meet your specific needs. I prioritize listening to you and getting to know you as a client. My style is somewhat casual because I believe it’s important to be authentic in therapy, setting an example that it’s okay to be yourself.

    Certifications

I have experience working in various settings, including agencies, inpatient facilities, partial hospitalization programs {PHP), and residential programs. I have extensive experience helping both teens and adults with depression and anxiety. Additionally, I am a Certified Clinical Services Provider for ADHD and have significant experience working with parents and families to support their teens.

    ADHD

If you have ADHD, putting a label to your problem may sound scary. I have ADHD too.
(and I’ve made peace with it)
Throughout my life, I’ve been fortunate to have had many mentors who played a crucial role in shaping my journey. Their guidance and support have been instrumental in helping me reach where I am today. Discovering and understanding my ADHD symptoms, even before I knew it was ADHD, was a pivotal moment for me. This self-awareness enabled me to accept my challenges and reclaim control over my life, and I want the same for you.
Instead of putting a label to your head that you may have ADHD, picture this:
You stop struggling with focus and consistency to handling tasks and interactions with confidence and clarity.
You stop feeling anxious about everyday demands to managing stress effectively and fostering a sense of control.
You stop feeling overwhelmed with your day-to-day productivity and improve your focus finding fulfillment in your unique journey with ADHD.
I do this by helping you understand your ADHD, work with your executive functions (like planning and time management), and I help you feel like your symptoms are something to be understood and not something strange.
